You stuck what up where?!

Well today was an interesting day to say the least. Let me start at the beginning...

2 weeks ago Gwyn had a couple bloody noses and I didn't think too much of it because it's winter and dry, not odd. She then began sneezing a lot so I gave her Clartin but it didn't do anything so I didn't give her anymore and the sneezing continued. She was constantly picking her nose and it was running like a dripping faucet. The mucus was clear so I didn't think I needed to take her to the doc.

A week goes by and her mucus has taken on a horrible odor, although it is still clear. I decide to take her to the doc, can you say tantrum?! She wouldn't even get on the scale! I had to hold her upside down so the doc could look up her nose and she couldn't see anything. She is pretty sure there is some type of foreign object up there but isn't certain so we treat her for a sinus infection with amoxicilin. She told me that if it still smelled after 5 days to take her to an ear, nose & throat specialist and they can look farther up her nose and use suction to remove whatever is up there.

Day 4 of medication, Gwyn begins sneezing again, fibers appear at the end of her nostril . Oh My God! 3 times that day I removed what appears to be "fur" from her nose, lots of it in clumps(I realize that it is from her little german shepherd stuffed animal that is missing some fur on it's paws)! My mom was with me and we both thought, "oh that has to be all that's up there, it's working its way out!" NO, not the case!

Day 5, I take her into the ENT and he can't even see up her nose there is so much puss! I restrained her legs and arms and the nurse held her head back while the doc went to work. He kept pulling and sucking out enormous clumps of "fur"! I was shocked at the amount coming out of both nostrils! I am actually still in a state of shock. Now she is clear and happy and sucking on her sucker holding the sticker of her choice, the green lantern (whatever that is)!

Later that night, we decided to take Gwyn out to dinner for being so brave. We get home and Matt turns around to find Gwyn with her finger up her nose, NOOOOOO! I run around the car and discover a black string hanging out of her nose, I gently pull it out and a big clump comes out. I look in her other nostril and discover another fuzzy that I can't reach! I leave her in the car and run upstairs to get tweezers. Matt holds her hands and I pull out another clump of fur! She has been stuffing the fur from her winter coat up her nose hours after the trauma of having her nose assaulted!

Still later that night, we give her a bath and I tell Matt that I would like to look up her nose one more time with a flashlight. He restrains her and I discover another, yes another, fuzzy, it looks little though. NO I grab it with the tweezers and it is a huge clump! Good news is I think I got it all now!

morale of the story is: NO MORE FURRY THINGS!!!
