Well it came out of almost no where but I would say Gwyn is potty trained!! On my way home from Jackie's Up North Shower (Aug. 7) she gave me quite a scare. We were about 30-40 min from home and she starts freaking out, screaming and yelling so I pull over thinking she is hungry. We stopped at a gas station/McDonalds. We went into the bathroom and Gwyn is screaming that she needs her diaper changed, but she is not wet. She then starts screaming that her body hurts. She can barely walk and is hunched over grabbing her stomach. I buy her a happy meal but she refuses to eat or drink anything. I take her in the car and sit her on her duck potty. I get her to calm down by giving her My Little Pony fruit snacks and start reading her a book. Two pages in she pees in her potty and is completely fine and happy. I was so relieved that I wasn't even that embarrassed when I had to walk into the gas station with a bright orange bowl of pee-pee! I believe this was the jump start to her extreme progress.
Three days later she pee-pees on her duck potty all day long except when I put a pull-up on her (nap time and bed time). She went from peeing on the potty 4 times in 4 months to 6 times in one day! Amazing! One week later she no longer wets her pull ups and pees in her potty when she wakes up. She even pee-peed in adult potties when we went out! Yesterday during her nap and last night I let her sleep in her panties and there were no accidents!
Now for the poop story! We were outside on Saturday morning and Gwyn was bending over to pick up a toy and well a little pooper popped out onto the deck (she was in her birthday suit). So I clean it up and when I go back out she was bending over picking up another toy and presto another pooper! She was so surprised both times like where did that come from?! So yesterday she runs to tell me that she pooped in her panties, well she hadn't so I plopped her on the potty and presto a pooper in her potty! YES!! She earned some M&Ms for that one. I had had to clean out several pairs of panties before she actually accomplished this over the 2 week period of her fast progress. Let's hope that she poops in her potty as well as she does her number 1. She called my mom after she did it and said, "Gramma, I poo-pooed in my pee-peeing potty!"
I've taken her on short store trips and she comes home dry and uses her potty. I will say it has been quite a long road this potty training! I started in April and here it is August so that makes 4 months of prep work. Prep work includes about a dozen potty books, one potty training book for me and 2 potty DVDs, one for her and one for me, one sticker chart, a dozen training panties and numerous amounts of pull-ups and lastly one duck potty and makes music when she pees!! Phew what a trip!
YAY!!!
